TrackingLens Docs

A quick guide to checking campaign links, fixing tracking issues, and exporting cleaner email HTML.

How TrackingLens works

TrackingLens scans the links in your email HTML and turns them into a clear audit table. You can review every URL, configure campaign tracking values, apply safe fixes where appropriate, and export clean tracked HTML.

1

Add your email HTML

Paste or upload your email HTML so TrackingLens can extract every link.

2

Review every URL

TrackingLens checks campaign URLs, UTM parameters, wrappers, placeholders, system links, and unsafe URL patterns.

3

Configure tracking

Set the source, medium, campaign, and optional content values used for safe fixes.

4

Apply safe fixes

Quick Fix only updates normal http/https links where it can do so safely.

5

Review protected links

System links, wrappers, templates, email links, and phone links are protected or flagged for manual review.

6

Export clean HTML

Download the original HTML or a safely fixed version with tracking updates applied.

What TrackingLens checks

TrackingLens is designed to catch the link issues that are easy to miss during campaign review, especially when emails contain lots of links, variants, or segmented versions.

Missing UTM parameters
Inconsistent campaign, source, or medium values
Untracked links
Broken-looking or malformed URL patterns
Wrapped links and redirect/tracking wrappers
Likely tracking pixels in the supplied HTML
Placeholder links
Duplicate or suspicious URLs
Links that need manual review before they are changed
System links such as unsubscribe, view online, preference centre, privacy policy, and terms links

TrackingLens helps highlight possible issues, but final campaign approval should still go through your normal review process.

Status key

The right-hand Link checks panel uses these statuses to show whether each tracking or link safety check has passed, needs attention, or needs manual review.

Passed

The check ran and no problem was found.

At risk

Tracking needs attention, but it is usually safe to review or fix.

Issue

A link or URL needs manual review before it should be changed or sent.

Critical

A likely send-blocking or definitely unsafe tracking/link problem.

Protected

A recognised system-controlled link that TrackingLens intentionally leaves unchanged.

Not checked

The email has not been analysed yet, so no result is available.

In compact views, Issue and Critical may both be labelled as Failed. The dot colour still shows the severity.

Quick Fix

Quick Fix is designed for safe tracking cleanup. It can apply inferred or user-provided tracking values to suitable links, while avoiding risky changes to system links or URLs that should not be modified.

TrackingLens can identify likely tracking pixels in your email HTML without loading or pinging them. It reports them for review, but never modifies or removes them.

Always review fixed HTML before sending. TrackingLens is a QA assistant, not a final deployment system.

trackinglens-fixed-with-review.html

The safely fixed version when unresolved review items remain unchanged.

Recommended workflow

TrackingLens works best as a pre-launch link review step. Use it after links have been added, but before the email is sent for final approval or deployment.

  1. 1Paste or upload the latest email HTML.
  2. 2Review high-priority link issues first.
  3. 3Check campaign-level UTM consistency.
  4. 4Confirm system links are intentionally excluded or preserved.
  5. 5Apply Quick Fix only where appropriate.
  6. 6Export the original HTML or a safely fixed version for handover.
  7. 7Send a final test from your ESP before launch.

Privacy

TrackingLens is intended for pre-launch link review. Avoid adding sensitive personal data, live customer data, or confidential campaign content unless you are comfortable processing it through this tool.

The uploaded or pasted HTML is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by the app. Public examples are loaded only when you choose a sample email.

Current limitations

  • TrackingLens checks links found in the supplied HTML.
  • It does not send test emails.
  • It does not deploy campaigns.
  • It does not verify inbox placement.
  • It does not guarantee a URL destination is correct.
  • It does not replace final review or client approval.
  • It may not fully understand highly dynamic, incomplete, or malformed HTML.

TrackingLens helps reduce link-tracking mistakes, but final responsibility still sits with the person or team launching the campaign.

FAQ

Does TrackingLens send emails?

No. TrackingLens reviews the HTML you provide. It does not send or deploy campaigns.

Does it change my HTML?

No. TrackingLens only changes your HTML when you choose to export a fixed version. Your original pasted or uploaded HTML is not overwritten.

Should I still test the final email?

Yes. Always test the final HTML in your normal review process before launch.

Can I use it for segmented campaigns?

Yes. TrackingLens is especially useful when campaigns contain lots of variants, links, or tracking values that need to stay consistent.

Does it handle system links?

TrackingLens detects common system links such as unsubscribe, view online, preference centre, privacy, and terms links, then keeps them protected from automatic tracking changes where appropriate.
